The thresholds

To earn from ads you need, in the last 12 months:

  • 1,000 subscribers, and
  • 4,000 public watch hours, or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days.

There's also a lower tier (500 subscribers plus upload and watch requirements) that unlocks fan-funding features like memberships and Super Thanks, but not ad revenue.

Other requirements

  • Follow YouTube's monetisation policies
  • Live in an eligible country (India is)
  • Two-step verification on your Google account
  • An AdSense account linked
  • No active Community Guidelines strikes

The review

After you apply, YouTube reviews your channel — usually within a month. Reviewers look at your main theme, most-viewed videos, newest videos and metadata.

Common rejection reasons

  • Reused content: compilations, reuploads, slideshows with stock clips
  • Repetitive content: near-identical videos
  • Misleading metadata

Getting there faster

Most channels stall on watch hours. Watch time services deliver hours on a long video; non-drop subscribers cover the subscriber count. See the full monetization package.
