The first 1,000 subscribers is the hardest milestone on YouTube. After that, growth compounds. Here's how to get there.
Choose searchable topics
New channels don't get recommended much, but they can rank in search. Make videos that answer questions people type: "how to fill GST return", "best phone under 15000", "Mysore to Coorg road trip".
Use Shorts as a funnel
Shorts get shown to people who don't know you. Post 3–5 Shorts a week related to your long videos and link them.
Thumbnails and titles
- Titles: clear benefit + keyword. "Best Phone Under ₹15,000 (Tested for 30 Days)".
- Thumbnails: one face, one object, 3–4 words maximum.
Hook in the first 15 seconds
Say what the viewer gets. Cut the intro music.
Upload on a schedule
Same day, same time each week. Consistency trains both viewers and the algorithm.
Ask (once)
"If this helped, subscribe — I post every Friday." One clear ask beats begging.
Social proof at the start
A channel with 23 subscribers struggles to convince anyone. Many creators use non-drop subscribers and views to make a new channel look established, then let content take over. If monetisation is the goal, read our monetization guide.
