Engagement rate is how brands decide whether your followers are paying attention.
The formula
(Likes + comments + saves + shares) ÷ followers × 100, averaged over your last 10–12 posts. Try our calculator.
Typical ranges
| Followers | Typical engagement |
|---|---|
| Under 10K | 4–8% |
| 10K–50K | 2–5% |
| 50K–500K | 1.5–3% |
| 500K+ | 0.5–2% |
Why it falls as you grow
Bigger accounts have more passive followers. That's normal.
Raising it
Post content that asks for interaction, reply to comments, use stories with stickers, and make sure likes and comments keep pace with follower growth — a jump in followers without a matching jump in likes and comments drags your rate down.
